event details
StorySlam is a live community storytelling event hosted at Scout’s Coffee Bar, and this edition is extra special as Gay Social has been invited as a community partner. LGBTQ adults are invited to gather for an evening centered on shared stories, connection, and community, with 10% of all ticket sales and evening sales donated to Gay Social. Some people take the stage to tell a story, others come to listen and support, and both are equally welcome.
This month’s theme is Family Business. Some families pass down recipes, others pass down expectations, grudges, talents, secrets, or responsibilities no one asked for. Family business is the work we inherit, the roles we are assigned, and the emotional labor nobody put in the job description. Stories may explore when love and obligation collide, when the personal becomes professional, and what it means to carry something that was handed down to you, whether you wanted it or not.
Check in with our Director of Events, Andrew Casano, who will be there to welcome attendees, help make introductions, and make sure everyone feels comfortable settling in, especially if it is your first Gay Social event.
